Hex Cat
A fast-paced score attack game, where you play as a magic cat battling a terribly cursed tome.
Advanced tips:
- Build your combo by landing pounces, you lose your combo if you get hit or miss a pounce. You gain point rewards every 5 combo, and an extra life every 15.
- Your dodge can be used to avoid damage, you recover your dodge when you reach the floor, or when you land a pounce.
- You can use that mechanic to chain pounces, by pouncing out of a recovered dodge. Chained pounces can be used to reach higher targets and score more points.
- Your hex meter is filled by landing 20 pounces without getting hit, which activates your hex laser that destroys projectiles and scores lots of points for a limited time. You can't eat curses while the laser is going, but you can blast 'em.
Made in 72 hours for Minijam 127: "Cats", with a color pallet limitation. I wasn't *required* to stick to the pallet, but I did anyway. I didn't really utilize the greys of the pallet, and I would probably add another darker color to spice up the background. This was a very relaxed jam, I worked well within my comfort zone. Interesting movement controls, and good visual feedback I think.
In the post-jam patch, I added more visual feedback and *fixed the framerate issue.* Freaking finally, it turns out a frame accumulator is an incredibly easy fix. The game also has a pause button, which is nice.

Love the music and the art! The mechanics are a little bit confusing but it was fun nevertheless :D
