Unshakable (Post-jam patch)
You show up at the geomancer champion's arena to fight them and take their title, but you've got to get past a couple other people first.
Sometimes when you click off of the game window, input breaks. I think it's a love web builder thing, click on the frame around the game to get back in.
The initial version I pushed was way too hard, this version is now slowed down and has slightly easier patterns
Featuring:
- 3 challenging 'platform hell' bosses
- Some pretty sweet pixel art animation
- A slapped together story
- A boulder bear, who I'm informed is highly huggable
Made by me, in a week for LOVE jam 2022, I like this project. My goal was to make a tiny but complete RPG, with a unique encounter system. I've made that sort of game in Pico-8 before, and enjoyed it; so I had an idea of how to structure my week.
I pulled together and adjusted the base code I wrote for a few other projects to get collision boxes, interactable boxes, and dialogue stuff while designing the first encounter, until I had a fully functional first encounter. That took a few days, then I spent the rest implementing and polishing for the most part, it went pretty well over all.
My biggest regret is that the way the game is structured, it's kind of hard to pay attention to my sweet animations, it's an issue I caught too late. In the future I'll need to think a little bit more before I put an encounter screen together. The game is also harder than it needs to be, but I guess that's something you learn through experience.
The music was made in JummBox
The sound effects were made with Sfxr
The art was drawn in Aseprite
Special thanks to my friends for some last minute play testing, and reminding me to tune down the difficulty so can be beaten by non-developer hands

It's way too hard lol I can't pass the first guy
Darn XD The challenge is to learn the pattern, reflexes won't be enough to get you there. Because I designed the pattern it's hard to accurately gauge how hard the pattern is to learn
I think the patern is okay but the fall is a bit too fast x)
